Bitcoin Well Launches Bitcoin IRA Product in the United States
October 16, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Bitcoin Well Inc. announced Thursday that its Bitcoin IRA product is now available to customers in the United States. The non-custodial bitcoin business offers Traditional and Roth IRAs that hold real bitcoin, facilitated through the Bitcoin Well platform and administered by Heritage IRA Inc.
The Bitcoin IRA by Bitcoin Well allows U.S. customers to hold bitcoin within a tax-advantaged retirement account. Customers can choose between a Traditional or Roth IRA, fund it with a contribution or rollover, and purchase actual bitcoin, which is then held within the IRA structure. Bitcoin Well acts as the bitcoin platform for transactions, while Heritage manages the IRA administration and compliance.
Key features of the offering include holding actual bitcoin on the blockchain, which can be independently verified, and the acceptance of rollovers from eligible 401(k)s and IRAs. The Infinite Executive Bitcoin Advisory team is available to assist with the rollover process. Bitcoin Well will generate revenue from the spread on all bitcoin transactions within the IRA, with no additional fees to the customer beyond an annual $210 IRA fee.
Adam O’Brien, founder and CEO of Bitcoin Well, stated that the IRA was designed with bitcoin as the primary focus, differentiating it from retirement accounts traditionally built for stocks, bonds, and funds. He expressed excitement about enabling customers to move their savings into an asset designed for long-term holding, while reducing counterparties and increasing transparency.
The company highlighted the benefits of holding bitcoin in an IRA for long-term savers, including tax-advantaged growth (tax-free growth and qualified withdrawals in a Roth IRA; tax-deferred growth and potential tax-deductible contributions in a Traditional IRA), alignment with long-term holding strategies, and diversification outside of traditional financial assets. The ability to transfer existing savings from 401(k)s and IRAs is also a key feature.
The Bitcoin IRA by Bitcoin Well is positioned as a game-changer because it holds actual bitcoin, not an ETF or trust, and aims to minimize the number of counterparties between the investor and their bitcoin. This initiative is part of Bitcoin Well’s broader mission to enable independence by making bitcoin accessible and useful for everyday people.
For Bitcoin Well shareholders, the Bitcoin IRA represents a new U.S. revenue stream, adding to the existing Bitcoin Portal business which had over 25,000 registered U.S. customers as of June 2026. The company anticipates more predictable sales cycles and recurring revenue, as retirement accounts are designed for ongoing contributions. The IRA is also expected to facilitate larger transaction sizes due to rollovers not being limited by annual contribution caps.
In a separate announcement, Bitcoin Well is set to settle C$257,993.52 in outstanding debt with certain creditors by issuing 5,733,187 common shares at a price of $0.045 per share. This debt settlement is subject to approval from the TSX Venture Exchange, and the issued shares will be subject to a four-month-plus-one-day statutory hold period. A portion of this settlement is expected to involve a director of the company, which will be treated as a related party transaction under MI 61-101. The company plans to rely on exemptions from formal valuation and minority shareholder approval requirements.
Bitcoin Well’s mission is to enable independence by making bitcoin useful for everyday people, combining the convenience of modern banking with the benefits of bitcoin. The company’s Bitcoin ATM and Online Bitcoin Portal businesses generate cash flow to support this mission. Shareholders are encouraged to join the investor community and follow the company on Nostr, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
