Mahindra Commences Commercial Production of Clean Seed's MaxSeeder Machine
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — October 15, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Clean Seed Capital Group Ltd. announced today that Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has begun commercial production and supply of its MaxSeeder seeding machine, manufactured under license from Clean Seed.
Mahindra, the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume and a leading farm equipment manufacturer, stated on October 12, 2026, that the MaxSeeder is an innovative, precision, zero-till, multi-crop seeding machine. Developed in collaboration with Clean Seed Agricultural Technologies, Canada, the MaxSeeder is designed to sow a wide variety of crops, including rice, wheat, soybean, maize, and cotton.
The machine’s zero-till technology allows farmers to sow directly into paddy residue, eliminating the need for stubble burning. Its patented technology is designed to reduce fertilizer usage and seed wastage, enhancing input efficiency and farm profitability. Additionally, the MaxSeeder supports water conservation and contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The collaboration between Mahindra and Clean Seed Technologies aims to combine Clean Seed’s precision seeding technology with Mahindra’s manufacturing capabilities to provide sustainable farm mechanization solutions that are accessible and affordable for farmers globally, particularly in India.
Veejay Nakra, President of Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed pride in the partnership, stating that the MaxSeeder, coupled with Mahindra’s manufacturing prowess, offers benefits to both farmers and the environment. He added that the collaboration highlights Clean Seed’s confidence in Mahindra’s capabilities and their shared commitment to advancing access to modern farm machinery.
Field trials conducted in Punjab and Haryana reportedly demonstrated the MaxSeeder’s effectiveness in sowing seeds into heavy paddy residue with minimal soil disturbance. The machine is manufactured at Mahindra’s farm machinery plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, and will be rolled out through Mahindra Farm Equipment Business dealerships, starting with Punjab and Haryana, as part of a phased expansion across India.
Graeme Lempriere, Chairman & CEO of Clean Seed Capital Group, called the commencement of production at Mahindra a proud milestone, testament to years of innovation and collaboration. He noted his admiration for Mahindra’s scale and manufacturing capabilities, as well as the commitment of the Mahindra team.
The MaxSeeder is engineered for efficient operation with lower-horsepower tractors, requiring a 35 HP tractor or above, making advanced precision seeding more accessible. It features adjustable row spacing, multiple metering configurations, and flexible product delivery systems, allowing farmers to adapt the machine for various crops and farming applications, thereby reducing operational costs and improving efficiency.
Designed for versatility across cereals, pulses, cotton, and maize, the MaxSeeder includes five independent planting row units with adjustable row spacing. This customization enables precise seed placement and improved crop establishment.
The machine’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) precisely meters and dispenses seed, DAP, and urea, controllable via a mobile app. Its multifunctional tyne places urea below the seed line for timely nutrient availability, reducing waste and improving fertilizer-use efficiency. The high operating speeds of the MaxSeeder enable farmers to complete seeding operations more quickly, saving time, fuel, and labor, particularly due to its zero-till sowing capabilities.
Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business is a global leader in farm mechanization and the world’s largest tractor company by volume. It offers a range of tractors, farm machinery, and precision agriculture solutions aimed at enhancing farm productivity and profitability.
