Mahindra Begins Commercial Production of Clean Seed's MaxSeeder Technology
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA — October 15, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Clean Seed Capital Group Ltd. announced that Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has commenced commercial production and supply of its MaxSeeder seeding machine, which is manufactured under license from Clean Seed.
Mahindra, the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume and a leading farm equipment manufacturer, stated that the innovative MaxSeeder is a precision, zero-till, multi-crop seeding machine. This machine is designed to sow a wide variety of crops, including rice, wheat, soybean, maize, and cotton, directly into paddy residue, eliminating the need for stubble burning.
The MaxSeeder’s patented technology is designed to reduce fertilizer usage and seed wastage, thereby improving input efficiency and farm profitability. Additionally, the machine supports water conservation efforts and contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions. This collaboration between Mahindra and Clean Seed Technologies aims to combine Clean Seed’s advanced precision seeding technology with Mahindra’s manufacturing capabilities to provide sustainable farm mechanization solutions that are accessible and affordable for farmers globally.
Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., expressed pride in the partnership with Clean Seed, highlighting the MaxSeeder’s benefits for both farmers and the environment. He noted that the collaboration underscores Clean Seed’s confidence in Mahindra’s capabilities and their shared commitment to advancing access to modern farm machinery worldwide.
Field trials conducted in Punjab and Haryana demonstrated the MaxSeeder’s effectiveness in sowing seeds into heavy paddy residue with minimal soil disturbance. The machine is manufactured at Mahindra’s farm machinery plant in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, and will be rolled out through Mahindra Farm Equipment Business dealerships, starting with Punjab and Haryana, as part of a phased expansion strategy.
Graeme Lempriere, Chairman & CEO of Clean Seed Capital Group, called the production of the MaxSeeder, referred to by Clean Seed as SMART Seeder MINI-MAX™, a proud milestone. He acknowledged the years of innovation and collaboration that led to this point and expressed admiration for Mahindra’s scale and manufacturing capabilities.
The MaxSeeder is engineered for efficient operation with lower-horsepower tractors, operable with a 35 HP tractor or above, making advanced precision seeding more accessible. It is designed for versatility, featuring adjustable row spacing, multiple metering configurations, and flexible product delivery systems that allow farmers to adapt the machine across various crops and farming applications. This flexibility aims to reduce field operations, lower input costs, and enhance farm profitability.
The machine is engineered to handle multiple crop patterns with five independent planting row units and customizable row configurations. Its intelligent Electronic Control Unit (ECU) precisely meters and dispenses seed, DAP, and urea, controllable via a mobile app. The unique multifunctional tyne places urea below the seed line, ensuring timely nutrient availability and reducing fertilizer wastage, thereby improving fertilizer-use efficiency and promoting stronger plant growth.
The MaxSeeder enables high operating speeds, allowing farmers to complete seeding operations quicker due to its zero-till sowing capabilities. This results in savings in time, fuel, and labor, enabling farmers to better utilize critical planting windows.
Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business is a global leader in farm mechanization and the world’s largest tractor company by volume, offering a comprehensive range of tractors, farm machinery, and precision agriculture solutions. Guided by its purpose to Transform Farming, Enriching Lives, Mahindra FEB develops innovative solutions to shape the future of farming and advance rural prosperity.
